It’s basically about the fact that it takes time and active labor to build an online business, just the way it would to build an offline business. It was pretty neat and again, if you have not read it yet, I would strongly recommend you check it out. Anyway, moving on to today’s blog-post topic, I want to talk a little bit about focus. I always thought I was pretty focused in my business but I am slowly realizing how that is not at all the case. I always have 5 to 10 full-time projects going at any given time and though that is not necessarily a bad thing, it does have it’s disadvantages. It is something most entrepreneurs struggle with and what I have come to realize is, unless one “systemizes” each project and sees one project through at a time, one quickly burns out and as a result, one leaves a lot of “could be made” money on the table. I want to take that a little further though: what if you are too distracted with “one” project? Example: this site (EmpireMarketing.ca) is my number one money maker and has been ever since I started working online full-time back in 2009. Be it commissions from promoting quality affiliate offers, sales of various SEO service packages, or services for offline clients, this site has done exceptionally well and has been my bread and butter for over 2 years. Sure, I have other projects, sites and products in various niches that bring in steady incomes as well, but when it comes to the big money, this site outperforms them all. But… this site has been – and still is to this day – costing me a ton. I put more money in to it than I care to remember and I probably spent a few thousand man hours on it as well. Which leads me to my point: I need to cut the expenses and focus on the things that will bring this site to the next level. What does this mean?
There is a saying we have here in Canada: a jack of all trades is a master of none. Essentially, why not focus on one service and make it the best out there? My goal is to provide few – but exceptional services. That way I can commit more of my time to creating free SEO training videos and step-by-step SEO guides. In short, sometimes you have to focus within your existing focus to find out what really is worth your while and what is keeping you from reaching the new heights in your business. Have you ever had to “micro focus” on something? I would love to hear your thoughts/feedback! Konrad
One of the fastest ways to get a website ranking first page on Google is by getting it listed on Google maps. This is especially true if your website is based on a certain region, city, or locality. Let me give you an example: Normally one would have paid upwards of $1500 for that add, but because he acted quickly, he got it for about $900. You say “that is a not so bad for a decent sized add” and I could not agree more. Their prices have not changed much over the years, but the results you get from those ads have changed dramatically – thanks to the internet. Only a very small percentage of the modern world still uses “yellow pages” to find local stores, retailers, business, etc, and yet a very high percentage of all established businesses pay big bucks to be listed in these phone-directories. What does this mean? It means pages and pages of competition in a tiny market. A long story short, our landscaping company was getting a call almost every day as a result of that ad – not from potential customers, but rather from school kids looking for a job. It was a waste of our time, a waste of our energy, and a waste of our resources. My company and I have worked with quite a few business owners and helped them get their websites on top of Google through Google local listings and every one of them instantly noticed an increase in sales that was directly attributed to the work my company and I did for them. I am not saying this to brag, I am simply trying to show you how powerful this method really is. In fact, a lot of the BIG marketers have been taking advantage of this and guess what: they charge local businesses sick amounts of money just to list them in Google’s local listing. Getting it listed requires a good amount of keyword research, set up time, confirmation, etc. The list goes on and on and on. It can get a bit overwhelming for sure, but if you are short on cash, doing it yourself might be a good option. To do it yourself, go to http://www.google.com/local/add and follow the steps. If you would rather have professionals do it, read on. My staff & I would be happy to get your (or your client’s) site/business listed on Google local directories for a low one time investment of $197. This includes:
